Prof. Wadhwa was awarded the Lear Prize in 2007 by CBS's Graduate Business Association. An article in the school's newspaper, The Bottom Line, reported:
The GBA is proud to announce this year's recipient of the Lear Award: Professor Hitendra Wadhwa.
Established by the GBA in 1982, The Lear Award is presented annually to a faculty member or administrator who most clearly demonstrates a commitment to students through accessibility and an overall contribution to the improvement of student life.
Professor Wadhwa embodies these principles in every aspect of his presence at Columbia Business School. From his stellar ratings in course evaluations to winning the "Most Engaging Marketing Professor" distinction in the MAC awards, Professor Wadhwa is undoubtedly one of our most dynamic and passionate professors. However, his contributions extend far beyond the classroom. He has left an indelible impression on students with his orientation session, something students still remark upon long after. Committed to students' career development, he has created a Master Class in Consulting to enable teams to work on real-life engagements with companies ranging from clothing designers to professional sporting groups. He holds numerous case preparation sessions for his students and the Management Consulting Association and aids in the efforts of the Small Business Consulting Program. Additionally, his leadership sessions as part of the Program on Social Intelligence have since evolved into a new elective called "Personal Leadership and Success," which is aimed at helping us grow our emotional intelligence and work-life balance.
Professor Wadhwa is not all hard work, however. He has run meditation sessions for the Healthy Living Club and actively plans and participates in many conferences around campus. He knows a staggering number of students by name and takes personal interest in their goals and dreams. He has also been seen as the last one standing in the wee hours of the morning during the Chazen India trips, where he has arranged meetings and interactions with the Indian Prime Minister and Bollywood stars.
Clearly, Professor Wadhwa's contributions to the students and our community have been truly astounding. Professor Wadhwa, thank you for your commitment to our community and for helping us grow as individuals as well as future leaders.
