How is this Bootcamp different from all the Strategy courses I am taking at business school?
Strategy Consulting Bootcamp introduces you to tools and methods that have been developed and
refined by the top-tier strategy consulting firms over the years. Business school courses do not teach this
content simply because strategy consultants have generally not returned to universities to teach their trade.
That is what Professor Wadhwa did at Columbia Business School four years ago, after a stint at McKinsey.

Bootcamp equips you with learning and tools that are not covered
in business school strategy courses, review the detailed content of the

I haven’t taken the core business school classes yet – will I still derive value
from the Bootcamp?
Absolutely! The Bootcamp doesn't have any functional or industry prerequisites but instead
teaches a way of thinking about problems and organizing data. The class has proven useful to industry
professionals, executive MBA’s, and students with other advanced degrees who haven’t taken the
core business school courses.
Has this Bootcamp been taught before?
Yes! The
Bootcamp has been taught as a course in the MBA and executive-MBA programs at
Columbia Business School over the last four years. In the last year, this course has specifically
incorporated the
Bootcamp format of delivering key sessions in a 2-day seminar. In addition,
Professor Wadhwa has delivered the same
Bootcamp to executives at large corporations
interested in developing strategy problem-solving and communication skills.

I can't sit through two full days of class!
Don't worry. The Bootcamp uses a mix of lectures, role-plays, discussions, and stories to
vary the pace and keep all participants engaged through the two days. We view it as our responsibility
to keep the energy level high during the Bootcamp. Just bring the right attitude and we
will do the rest.
How can I give up a precious weekend? It only comes to me once a week!
We realize you are giving part of your valuable and scarce free time for this event. But think about
how important your professional goals and success are to you. The
Bootcamp will make you
grow professionally in ways you won't otherwise experience at school, at a time when your professional
growth is your central focus.
Over the two years of the MBA program, you have 104 weekends – by giving the
Bootcamp
1% of this free time, you will be acquiring a set of tools and learnings that will have immediate
impact on your professional life – and sustained impact over time.
Will I need to do any pre-work? Homework, readings, etc.?
No – the Bootcamp is a self-contained learning experience. No advance work is required.
Will handouts be provided at the Bootcamp?
Yes – every attendee will walk away from the
Bootcamp with a binder of the class
presentations. This binder will be a great resource to you as it will highlight the tools, insights,
and practical knowledge shared over the course of the two days.
“I have been able to use this class and its materials immediately in my current position.
I have in fact brought the course notes to my desk as reference and have also implemented a Hypothesis
Tree to help me sort through a recent business problem.”

Will there be breaks throughout the day? Will there be any food or refreshments?

provided on both days, and light refreshments will be provided during the coffee breaks.

Bootcamp starts, including signing up on-site on the morning of the Bootcamp
